(12)Left hand, thumb and middle finger together

Guzheng for beginners 初級古箏

 (12) left hand, thumb and middle finger together
________________________________________________________________________________

Apart from performing vibrato and pressing down strings, your left hand can also pluck
strings just like your right hand. The only difference is that depending on the songs,
you can determine whether you need to wear picks on your left hand or not. The way
to wear picks is the same as your right hand.

When you start practicing, practice separately with your left and right hands.
You may practice by rows or by bars. After you become familiar with the song,
you can start to link all the parts together and play the whole song.

When plucking the same string, avoid getting too close to each other in order
to prevent unnecessary noise.

At the same time, both hands should not be too far from each other. Both hands
have to maintain the same strength. Pay extra attention to your index finger to
make sure it has sufficient strength.

When playing, remember that the upper row on the music sheet is for your
right hand while the lower row is for your left hand.

Note : When your left hand plays one “Da Cuo”, it takes two beat. But your right hand takes one beat.

Note : 0 is a rest. There is no need to pluck anything.

Note: This time the rhythm relies on your left hand. Therefore, your left hand should use more strength. Your right hand plays the role of chord. Therefore, its strength should be weaker.
