Guzheng fingering introduced

There are many plucking techniques when playing Guzheng. Although almost all the plucking techniques are written in the top of the music notes, some are written before or after the music notes.

 ------------------------------------------

Thumb, we say (tuo) to pluck a string forward and inward towards your palm.

Middle finger, we say (gou) to pluck a string inwards yourself.

Index finger, we say (mo) to pluck a string like the middle finger

Ring finger, we say (da) to pluck a string like the middle finger.

Thumb, we say (pi),  pluck a string towards yourself, contrary to (tou).

Middle and thumb , we say (gou, tou) , middle finger pluck first then your thumb, the two notes are usually an octave.(An octave has only 5 notes.)

Index finger and thumb, we say (mo, tou), index finger pluck a string first then your thumb, the two notes are usually smaller than  an interval. (e.g. 1 2 , 2 3 , 3 5 ....)

Thumb and middle finger pluck two strings together, the two notes are usually in an octave.

Thumb and index finger pluck two strings together, the two notes are usually in an interval.

Your thumb pluck the string first forward,  and then immediately back towards your body.

This combo requires three fingers , we also call it (four points)

Your middle finger plucks the strings continuously towards your body. (Ascending)

Your thumb plucks the strings continuously away from your body.   (Descending)

Your Index finger plucks the strings continuously towards your body. (Ascending)

Vibrato, vibrate the string in an up and down manner with your left hand (index, middle and ring fingers) on the left side of the bridge.

Your Thumb pluck two strings inward towards your the palm at the same time, producing one sound. your left hand needs to press the lower pitch string to raise it to the upper pitch.

Your Thumb pluck two strings outwards away form your palm at the same time, producing one sound. your left hand needs to press the lower pitch string to raise it to the upper pitch.

 or

Up portamento , After your Right hand pluck a string, your left hand press that string to reach a specified pitch .

  or

Down portamento ,  First, your Left hand presses a string to get a higher pithc, after your Right hand pluck a string, release your Left hand to glide the pitch from high to low.

This technique means "double mo", requiring your Index finger pluck two strings at the same time producing one sound, As soon as you pluck the strings, your Left hand presses the lower pitch string to the upper pitch.

Descending Glissando . After your Right hand pluck a string or strings, your Left index finger slides across the strings (usually five or more strings) downward from low to high pitch.

Arpeggios, your Right hand or Left hand plucks several strings in sequence quickly, usually from lower to higher pitch.

Descending Glissando, your thumb plucks about two to five strings from high to low pitch(descending). Then another finger plucks the note immidiately.
